Montreal is brimming with talent.

That is why MTLStartupTalent is thrilled to organize a contest
that encourages developers and non-developers alike
to submit innovative solutions to problems
that affect Montrealers.

Registrations closed.

What qualifies as “a problem that affects Montrealers”

The contest is open to most any type of problem that contestants might wish to address ; we encourage fun, diverse and innovative approaches that solve existing problems and help Montrealers in the process.
A few ideas could include: avoiding traffic jams, discovering events/venues, finding parking/ cabs, working out with people, blind dates or flirting in a foreign language, helping the homeless, learning a language, car pooling, finding lost animals etc.

Solutions must present a Montreal-centric approach.

Who can submit an entry

Anyone over the age of 18, and residing in Montreal, can participate.
Teams of 2-3 people are preferred, although individuals are also welcome.
Team size is limited to 5 people or less.
Participants cannot submit or be part of more than one project for the purpose of this contest.

What qualifies as an entry

We are looking for ideas and projects that are developed uniquely for this contest.
On-going projects, or already-existing solutions will not be considered.

Entries can include web apps, websites, mobile apps, viral marketing campaigns, social networking, art or creative endeavours with a social twist, etc.
We are looking for “tangible” solutions, that can (and will) attract users, viewers or supporters.

Business plans or project proposals will not be considered.

Google+ Requirement

Submitted entries must require the use of Google+ in some capacity.

G+/Hangouts API Resources: https://developers.google.com/+/overview
Creating Google+ Pages: http://www.google.com/+/business/

For instance, you could integrate the Google+ API to take advantage of users’ networks and activities, use Google+ Hangouts for real-time communication within your solution, crowdsource your input through Google+ Pages by attracting followers and contributors etc.

A simple way to check whether this requirement is met is to ask : “would my solution be disabled if I removed the Google+ component”.
The answer should be “yes”.

When in doubt, contact @mtltalent.com.
